The Theatre Courtyard Gallery
An immersive experience tells the story of the rise and fall of The Theatre on the site of London’s first Elizabethan playhouse.
NewAngle produced a 17m immersive projection which tells the tale of a business venture by entrepreneurs John Brayne and James Burbage, who designed a place for entertainment and performance.
The experience consists of three acts.
In the first act a 2.5d animation brings to life original maps, engravings and specially created illustrations.
A bespoke 3D soundscape re-creates sounds, music and voices of the time.
The second act or main show is a dynamic, choreographed play that re-enacts The Theatre’s story using purpose-shot footage of actors and visual effects.
The final act displays stunning images of artefacts on display in the showcases.
Lighting, media and sound worked together to create transitional states and enhance key moments in the show.
